Scales, spots and slime, oh my! This deck turns every card game into a nature walk, with 54 North American reptiles and amphibians brought to life in stunning colored-pencil art.

Illustrator and naturalist Mel Bryant drew each species by hand, capturing every detail that makes these creatures so remarkable: the diamond pattern on a rattlesnake’s back, the glossy shell of a turtle, the fiery orange of a red salamander and the bumpy skin of a toad. Every card shows the animal’s common name at the top and its scientific name at the bottom, so you can learn as you play, whether you’re a beginner or a budding herpetologist.

Shuffle up for family game night and you might find yourself pausing mid-hand to admire a tree frog or debate which snake is the most striking. These cards also make great flash cards for budding naturalists, classroom lessons or practice before a hike, helping players recognize species by sight. And they give a little love to animals that are often misunderstood but play an important role in ecosystems everywhere.

Elegant enough to collect and durable enough to play with again and again, the deck is a miniature gallery of herp art that fits in your pocket. It makes a thoughtful gift for nature lovers, art fans, teachers, reptile keepers and anyone who’s ever stopped to watch a lizard sunbathing on a rock.
